Kitchener House Painters is a booking line. It is not a painting company, and it is not a directory that sells your enquiry to a list of bidders. It connects to one local painter working across the city — the plaster century homes downtown, in Cedar Hill and around Victoria Park; the 1960s to 80s streets of Forest Heights, Stanley Park and Country Hills; the new builds in Doon South, Huron Park and Breslau — plus Waterloo and the communities immediately around Kitchener.

Painting is a trade that anyone with a roller can claim to practise, and the results show up a year later when the trim chips, the ceiling texture comes down in a clump, or the fresh coat peels off the oil enamel it was never primed over. Most people hire a painter a handful of times in their lives, and the cheap quote and the good quote look identical on the day the crew leaves. Anyone who has collected a few painting quotes will recognise the one-line estimate with no prep listed and no product named.

The point of this site is a straight line to a painter who looks at the surfaces before pricing them, lists the prep line by line, states the number of coats and the product, tells you when a wall needs a plaster or drywall trade before it needs paint, and does not scrape untested texture in an older house.

What we will not do: publish reviews we do not have, invent a rating or a star count, show a gallery of work that is not ours, quote a fixed price on a website, claim a licence for a trade Ontario does not licence, or sell your phone number. This site is new. It says what it can do and nothing more.

What the painter handles

• Interior painting: walls, ceilings, trim, doors and closets, single rooms to whole houses, including plaster crack repair and priming over old oil paint
• Exterior painting: wood trim, windows, fascia, soffit, porches, aluminum siding and previously painted brick
• Kitchen cabinet painting with doors removed, degreased, bonding-primed and sprayed
• Ceiling painting, including popcorn texture painted or, where tested, removed and skimmed, and stain blocking
• Pre-sale, move-in and rental-turnover repaints on a deadline

What it does not handle

This site covers residential painting. Installing drywall or plaster, hanging new wallpaper, commercial and industrial coatings, carpentry repairs to rotted exterior wood, and asbestos abatement are other jobs and other companies. Painting is not a licensed trade in Ontario; the painter carries liability insurance and WSIB coverage, and where a job touches a trade that is licensed — moving a light fixture before a ceiling is painted, for example — that work goes to someone qualified. Heritage questions about exterior changes belong to the City of Kitchener, and Consumer Protection Ontario sets out what a written contract should say. You will be told when a job belongs to someone else rather than sold a coat of paint that will not fix it.

How this works

When you call 226-840-6685 or send the form, your details go straight to the painter. They arrange a visit to look at the walls, ceilings, trim or exterior, check what is on the surfaces now, then quote the work in writing with the prep listed, the coats stated and the product named. The work is done under their own insurance and WSIB coverage. Your information is not sold, not shared with a list of competing companies, and there is no markup added to your bill for the introduction.

What we won't do

• Publish reviews we didn't earn. When we have them, they'll be real ones with names.
• Quote a firm price before someone has seen the job.
• Send anyone into your property who we would not have in our own.
